Strange as it may appear the use of a marriage ring by men was not common till recently. The use of rings as a symbol of everlasting love enshrined in wedding can be traced back millenia. It was, in truth, in the 2nd world war the use of marriage rings by men became commoner. ( Note that mens marriage rings and mens marriage bands are interchangeable, both meaning a similar thing.

It became the custom for US squaddies going to war to publicise their marital standing by the wearing of a person’s marriage ring. They were pleased to make public their commitment to their wife by the wearing of a public symbol that announced that dedication to all. Today it is perhaps as common for a recently married man to wear a ring as not. The modern man may consider it his duty to select to make the same public marital statement as his better half will. And his other half may well regard it as a condition of the wedding that he do so. Of course, in today of equality, if she is prepared to make a statement then should he not do so as well? Regardless of the fact that the wearing of a ring by a lady is a matter of choice, it is really virtually compulsory thanks to the fact that it’s so common. Many girls don’t even consider the chance of not wearing one.

Frequently a person customarily considers the wearing of a person marriage ring extraordinarily meticulously. Second while the wearing of jewelry by girls is so common as to go unremarked that is not always the argument for men.

For many men the wearing of mens marriage bands is simply a case of being asked to wear jewelry.
